A chilling prediction by Nostradamus about the unexpected “abdication” of King Charles III has set tongues wagging in the wake of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.
On Monday local time, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles would be stepping back from public duties while he receives treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The news prompted royal fans to reference an eerie prediction by Nostradamus which attracted headlines shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
The French astrologer and reported seer has attracted international notoriety for allegedly predicting future events such as the September 11 attacks, the Iraq War, the 2008 Global Financial Crisis and the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
He also shared his insights into the “Abdication of Charles III of England” following the death of the Queen in a series of poetic passages, which were published in 1555.

Prince Harry’s quick decision following Charles’ cancer bombshell
While there’s absolutely no indication that Charles intends to abdicate in light of his cancer battle, Nostradamus’ predictions on the fate of the monarch has prompted discussion among royal watchers.
Almost 470 years ago, the author claimed that Charles would be forced out by the British public, leading to an unexpected man to be named as the new reigning monarch.
“Because they disapproved of his divorce,” he wrote in one passage.
“A man, who, later, they considered unworthy.
“The people will force out the King of the Islands.
“A man will replace him who never expected to be king.”

Author Mario Reading, an expert on Nostradamus, analysed more of the astrologer’s predictions on the subject in his book Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies For The Future.
In it, Reading explains that Nostradamus successfully predicted that the Queen would pass away in 2022 – and further claimed that her death would lead Australia to break away from the Commonwealth.
“This quatrain will come as no surprise to the British people and it has wide implications,” Reading wrote.
“The preamble is that Queen Elizabeth II will die, circa 2022, at the age of around ninety-six, five years short of her mother’s term of life.
“Prince Charles will be crowned in her stead, and become ‘King of the Islands’, the implication here being that he is no longer king of the other regions in the world over which his mother reigned – Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. – which will have, in the interim, become republics.”
The author then claimed Nostradamus believed the public’s anger towards Charles following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997 will force his abdication.
“Prince Charles will be seventy-four years old in 2022, when he takes over the throne, but the resentments held against him by a certain proportion of the British population, following his divorce from Diana, Princess of Wales, still persist,” Reading writes.

“The pressure on him is so great, and his age so much against him, that Charles agrees to abdicate in favour of his elder son, Prince William.”
Talk of Nostradamus’ passages on King Charles have been raised again in the wake of the announcement about his health battle.
Buckingham Palace revealed that doctors had uncovered the issue when the monarch underwent surgery recently to correct an enlarged prostate.
“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,” a statement issued by Buckingham Palace said.
“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
